Wayne Baldwin

Senior Associate

Wayne Baldwin has a varied background in the multi-faceted profession of landscape architecture. Beginning with a passion for art and design as well as an appreciation for nature and the outdoors in his youth, he began a small maintenance business called "A Cut Above the Rest" that serviced several model homes in Montgomery County, Maryland for a large home building company. While working towards a bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Maryland College Park he simultaneously ran a maintenance crew for Brickman Group landscaping and worked for the woody plants department at Behnke Nurseries. This gave him extensive hands-on experience in the field which was later given consideration in his design work.

Wayne began his post-graduate career at a firm called Ki Concepts in Honolulu Hawaii working on a variety of educational and government institutions, transit, community-service, and high-end residential projects. Wayne moved back to Maryland to be closer to family, where he took a position as a planner with Dewberry Engineers Inc. He gained a lot of experience working closely with civil engineers on large-scale communities and commercial centers, from schematic design to construction documents and entitlement. From there, Wayne left to start his own successful design/build company called Landmarks Design, providing homeowners with high-quality and polished designs as well as installed landscapes that included decks, patios, plantings, and lighting.

After 3 years in business, Wayne closed Landmarks Design to seek a way of life better suited to him and his family in Sarasota, Florida where he began an e-commerce business before joining DWY Landscape Architects. Wayne and his wife Kate have two children, a son Ohia and a daughter Poppy. In his free time, Wayne enjoys spending time with family, staying active, learning new skills, working on new projects, and exploring new places.
