Principal and Founder

David W. Young founded DWY Landscape Architects in 1999 with the belief that it is important to reconnect people with nature and that successful landscape architecture has the ability to elevate the human spirit by enriching one’s surroundings and improving the quality of life. Since founding DWY, David has dedicated his talent and career to creating meaningful places that touch the lives of people who encounter them.

David is a South Florida native who graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture. As a native Floridian and former board director of the Conservation Foundation, David has a deep knowledge of indigenous plant communities and an appreciation for the need to protect Florida’s unique natural systems. His inherent passion and distinct perspective enable his practice of low-impact and sustainable landscape design.

Entrepreneurial by nature, David is committed to providing designs that celebrate the natural environment and built forms. With over 25 years of experience in all aspects of landscape architecture, David has collaborated with many award-winning architects. His work has received numerous awards at the local, national, and international levels.
