After purchasing the Camino Real house, new homeowners contacted DWY to revisit a design that the firm had worked on decades earlier. The result is a clean and lush series of garden spaces, built around established infrastructure, that invite life and activity to take place in the outdoors. The relationship of the gardens to the modern house is reminiscent of the vernacular side gardens quintessential to Charleston. Making use of mature trees and palms, and reconsidering other spaces, the new plan enhances the relationship of the landscape with the home, while further secluding the property for the close neighbors.
